Big name studios and publishers sign up to this year's show in Cologne

Industry giants prepare for biggest Gamescom yet

The organisers of Gamescom have announced a number of key exhibitors that have already signed up for the increasingly prominent show’s 2011 iteration.

EA, THQ, Konami, Capcom, Namco Bandai, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are to have a presence at the event, which last year attracted over quarter of a million guests, as are Ubisoft, Warner, Take-Two and Bethesda.

The consumer and business show, which hopes to welcome more than the 19,000 trade visitors that attended last year, is also set to welcome a wealth of big names from the online gaming world, including NCSoft, Trion, Frogstar and Valve.

Gamescom 2011, which also plans to host country-specific trade booths representing a record 11 nations and global regions, takes place in Cologne from August 17th to 21st, and expects to give space to more than the 505 exhibitors that attended the 2010 conference. Countries including Iran, Korea, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Canada, France and Italy will all have specific areas at the show.

The Gamescom Festival also returns, as does the GDC Europe area, and an expanded Gamescom Capmus element.
