EA backs Wayne Rooney

Video games publisher EA says that Manchester United and England football star Wayne Rooney will continue to represent the EA Sports brand.

The Sunday Mirror claimed yesterday that the sportsman, who is the cover star of the UK version of FIFA 11, had a string of encounters with a prostitute while his famous wife Coleen was pregnant with the pair’s child.

There are no changes planned,” an EA spokesperson told MCV.

This is a personal matter and we respect Wayne and his family’s privacy. We have worked together for six years and Wayne continues to represent EA Sports. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

This is not the first time EA has been forced to pledge its support to a famous sports star following their real-life misdemeanours. Back in December 2009 the company publicly backed Tiger Woods after his various ‘transgressions’.

EA’s sentiments echo those of Nike, which has also pledged its support.
