Most gamers only play 5hrs a week

The idea of what a ‘gamer’ does with their spare time is rapidly changing, according to research from ELSPA/ISFE.

So much so that it turns out that most gamers don’t plough hours of time into games, with 76 per cent of European gamers playing less than five hours.

Only a committed eight per cent of gamers play for over 16 hours a week, the two bodies say.

These facts and more have emerged from a European Gamers Survey 2010 the two have published statistics from today.

As well as revealing how big the gamer population is and dispelling myths around the PC format, the data also details amount of time playing games.

ELSPA says seven per cent of UK gamers play for more than 16 hours a week, while 77 per cent play less than five hours.
