WoW on iPad pictured

Famed developer David Perry has posted an image on his blog of an employee playing the PC-only MMO World of Warcraft on the Apple iPad.
How is this achieved? Via Perry’s Gaikai cloud computing service, which allows any game to be potentially played on any internet-ready device.

Soon I’ll be able to play WOW with my Cornflakes,” Perry noted on his blog. We’re really interested to see what works well with streaming and will be trying just about every genre of game, on every device possible as we explore server-side computing.

Of course, the nature of Gaikai’s cloud gaming technology means that we shouldn’t be surprised to see any particular game being played on any particular internet-ready device.

However, the allure of seeing doggedly platform-exclusive titles such as WoW effectively forced onto other platforms is at the very centre of the hype building around the idea of the cloud.
