EA launches Tiger Woods Online

EA’s browser-based title Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online has gone live following its beta trial.

The online game still includes a free-to-play option which grants access to featured courses, but the full version costs players 6.99 per month or an annual fee of 49.99.

Paying adds group tournaments, friend-to-friend messaging, championship courses and a pro shop, where gamers can purchase points in exchange for new items.

EA Sports president Peter Moore said: The launch of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online signals a shift in the traditional distribution model and will change the way that people will be able to access and enjoy their favourite video games for years to come.”

The game requires no installation, disc or peripherals for PC or mobile – just the Unity Web Player software.

Tiger Woods will return to golf this Thursday at the US Masters.
