Episodic Fable II arrives

Microsoft’s interesting experiment in episodic content has officially kicked off with the release of Fable II Episode 1 on Xbox Live.

The 2GB free download offers gamers a sizable chunk of Lionhead’s title for nothing. The idea is that gamers will like what they see and then shell out real cash for the next four Episodes, which when released will offer the complete game.

It’s an interesting addition to the quickly growing digital marketplace, and something a little different from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Games-On-Demand service.

Peter Molyneux first announced Lionhead’s plans to dabble in episodic content at Gamescom in August.
