Sony: 360 cut wont change PS3 Slim plans

Ahead of Microsoft’s confirmed Xbox 360 price cut announcement tomorrow, Sony has told MCV that it will not move forward the launch of PS3 Slim to compete with Microsoft’s discounted machine this bank holiday weekend.

We have agreements in place with all retailers and Centresoft to make sure the release date is not broken,” a spokesperson stated, adding that Microsoft’s Xbox activity won’t make any difference” to its plans.

In addition, MCV was told that Sony’s unwillingness to tinker with its planned PS3 Slim launch schedule shows how seriously we take street dates”.

The PS3 Slim launches next Tuesday (September 1st) for 249.99.
