MGS Rising to get multiplatform release

Despite it’s high-profile reveal at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Metal Gear Solid Rising will, as expected, be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360 – as well as PC – on day one.

Any doubts were banished by Sony’s US marketing head Peter Dille, who confirmed to Kotaku not only that the game is most definitely heading to PS3, but also that it will release at the same time as the Xbox 360 version – dispelling of rumours of times exclusivity.

Dille also spared time for a small dig at rival Microsoft, stating: I think the difference between our approach in our press conference and our competitors’ is that our focus is on exclusive content.

When a third party comes on our stage, it’s because they have something for our audience that is exclusive. And so whether it’s the Assassin’s Creed demo where Assassin’s Creed 2 might be cross platform, what we’re doing with the weapon-unlocking functionality between the PS3 and the PSP is a point of difference.”

Furthermore, Metal Gear Solid Rising will also be coming to PC.

The Metal Gear Solid series has always pushed the bar with its cinematic visuals and entertaining story line,” Konami’s European marketing director Martin Schneider clarified.

Now even more gamers can immerse themselves in the franchise and experience the groundbreaking series as Metal Gear Solid: Rising heads to the platform of their choice.”
