New texturing middleware to reduce download time and advance user-generated content

Allegorithmic’s Substance Air entering final beta

3D technology company Allegorithmic has moved texturing middleware Substance Air into final beta.

Substance Air is designed specifically for the development and distribution of online and downloadable games. The new tech will be replacing ProFX Online.

The middleware promises to allow developers to greatly reduce the size of downloadable applications, and enables the support of advanced user generated content.

"In today’s economy it’s crucial that game developers deliver games faster, better and more cost-effective than ever before," says Dr Sebastien Deguy ,founder and CEO of Allegorithmic.

"Substance Air will significantly improve the online game development and delivery process. Not only will it create entirely new opportunities for artists in regards to user-generated content and in-game asset customisation; it will save developers a substantial amount of time and budget."
