Majesco has left the games business

Cooking Mama, BloodRayne and Psychonauts publisher Majesco has exited the world of video games after a merger with PolarityTE.

The pair will drop the Majesco name and move forward into the medical world. PolarityTE specialises in tissue regeneration technology. Its former boss Dr Denver Lough will act as CEO of the new company, replacing Majesco chief Barry Honig.

It hopes to further develop a tissue engineering platform that uses a patient’s cells with aims to provide advances in wound healing and reconstructive surgery. Lough stated that the company wants to change the future of medicine”.

Which, to be fair, would probably leave a stronger legacy than publishing BloodRayne 3.

Majesco has had a rough last ten years or so in the games business. The success of titles such as Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum and Zumba Fitness lasted only as long as the motion gaming fad, and a move to mobile wasn’t able to fix things.
