Development site has also launched app-building Electron 1.0 platform

GitHub launches unlimited private repositories

New updates to GitHub will allow paid users to break free of previous limits on private repositories.

The site will now allow organisations and individual private users – providing they’re on a paid plan – to create new repositories without asking permission or getting approval. This is based on feedback from the GitHub community.

GitHub has assured this will not affect the free access currently given to open source and public projects.

Organisations can pay $9 per user per month, or $25 per month for your first five users. The personal plan costs $7 per month. You can find out more – as well as a FAQ – over at GitHub.

Meanwhile, the site has also launched Electron 1.0, a new open source framework that lets devs build cross-platform apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
