Company-wide layoffs imminent at Warner Bros – report

A company-wide wave of layoffs at Warner Bros is scheduled to take place later this week, according to multiple reports.

Game Informer points to a staff memo written by CEO Kevin Tsujihara, which mentions imminent restructuring. Variety further reports that as many as 1,000 jobs could be cut globally.

These are difficult decisions, and we don’t take them lightly,” Tsujihara said. We examined every aspect of our businesses to ensure that we were restructuring in a way that would allow us to minimise the impact on our employees, while continuing to adapt to the changing global marketplace.”

Additional cuts are expected through the first few months of 2015 as well – though its unclear how Warner Bros games operations will be specifically affected by the moves in the coming days and months.

Last month, Warner Bros confirmed cuts at Lord of the Rings Online developer Turbine as part of the firm’s new strategic alignment” initiative.
