99Games to develop game for Disney’s Million Dollar Arm

After the success of Dhoom 3: The Game, 99Games is set to launch its first game based on a Hollywood IP – Disney’s upcoming film, Million Dollar Arm.

The film stars Jon Hamm (Mad Men) in the role of sports agent JB Bernstein as he discovers India’s first pro baseball players, who eventually end up joining the MLB.

99Games has worked with Million Dollar Arm IP owner Seven Figures Management and Microsoft to develop the game for Windows Phone, iOS, Android and BlackBerry.

Gameplay will focus on pitching and the game is scheduled for release simultaneously for all platforms on 6th May, with the film set for worldwide release on 16th May.

The Udipi-based developer’s previous film-to-game adaptation, Dhoom 3: The Game, has crossed 11 million downloads, and according to the studio, it continues to get 10,000 downloads daily.
