Minecraft: PlayStation Edition hitting Blu-ray next month

A disc version of indie smash-hit Minecraft will arrive on PS3 next month.

That’s according to a marketing email sent out to PSN members, as posted on NeoGAF, which dates it for May 14th. Although that’s a Wednesday, so perhaps expect a May 16th arrival in the UK.

The game was released digitally for Sony’s machine on December 18th last year, but as the ever-present nature of the disc SKU of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition in the UK charts shows, there’s huge demand for non-digital versions of the game.

Mojang earlier this month confirmed 12m sales and counting for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Total Minecraft sales have now passed 40m units across PC, 360, PS3 and smartphones.

PS4 and Xbox One versions are currently in the works.
