Capcom invests $80m in new R&D facilities

Capcom has put $80m behind two new research and development buildings in Osaka, Japan.

The new offices are to boast state of the art facilities including motion capture and sound studios.

No doubt this will be to house some of the 100 software developers that the publisher’s CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto said he was going to hire each year for the next five years in January.

In a note to investors the company said: Capcom has been focusing resources on strategic and growing areas under a policy of selection and concentration in order to operate with speed and flexibility.

Constructing these new R&D buildings will make game development operations more efficient by centralising these operations and upgrading speed and control.”
