Now PS3 sales reach 80m units

Sony has revealed that worldwide PS3 sales have, as of November 1st, reached 80m units.

Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 had hit the 80m sales milestone just over two weeks ago. We’ll call that a draw for second place in the current-gen race, shall we?

Sony has also revealed that there are now 4,332 PS3 games available, with another 300 at least on the way.

And here’s some PSN stats – it now has over 150m registered users across its 59 active countries and has a catalogue of 222,000 digitally downloadable content options”, 72,000 of which are game related.

Sony’s release also mentions the PlayStation Move, although it fails to reveal sales numbers. It does add that Wonderbook is due to debut in japan this Christmas.
