The engine is said to give ten times more animation, depth and detail to games.

Speaking to GameTrailers, EA Sports, VP of EA Sports Andrew Wilson said the Ignite Engine “blurs a line between real and virtual, never before will you have had that experience on a console.”

Wilson added the engine is a collection of technologies that form an EA Sport engine that will drive all of their sports titles going forward.

Wilson said it bares some similarity to the Forstbite Engine, crated by EA’s Swedish studio, DICE, but added that its focus has been specifically tailored towards sports.

“Our focus is on animate, on locomotion and on getting 22 or more character on screen at a time,” he said.
