Gran Turismo 6 announcement hits the internet early

A press release announcing Gran Turismo 6 for PS3 has hit the internet ahead of the official announcement, which was expected this afternoon.

The Sixth Axis has compiled details from a number of sites carrying the news. The headline detail is undoubtedly the game’s ‘holiday’ release on PS3.

All of the cars seen in GT5 will once again star as well as a new range of classic cars, road cars and race cars bringing the launch line-up to some 1,200 vehicles.

New tracks have been added too including Silverstone, bringing the total to 33 individual courses with 71 different race layouts.

"GT6 for PlayStation 3 will bring new levels of authenticity to ‘the Real Driving Simulator’ as well as introducing stunning new tracks and cars and a revised user interface," the press release reads.

"A new compact game engine will improve operation and increase the flexibility to expand it with downloadable content."

Certainly the holiday release window – potentially just weeks before the arrival of PS4 – leaves no scope for the sort of delays that plagued predecessor Gran Turismo 5.
