Average annual earnings fall by just one per cent since last year

Revealed: Global developer salary slips to £34,000

The average global salary for a game developer has fallen slightly to an annual £34,183, according to Develop’s latest salary survey.

A total of 763 industry professionals took part in the study, which looks at salaries in development, publishing and retail, with over half coming from game dev.

Last year’s Salary Survey reported an annual income of exactly £34,457, with the slight fall of 0.8 per cent this year likely coming from depressions in the UK job market, where most of the survey’s respondents came from.

Looking at just the UK’s numbers, the average salary sinks to £29,358, a difference of almost £5,000.

Had Develop included the income of a number of well-paid executives in the industry, the average salary would have hit £36,523. This is still down however on last year’s tally of £37,407.
