Software company to continue collaborative research on open source platform

Perforce joins the Linux Foundation

Enterprise management company Perforce has joined the Linux Foundation, the non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the growth of the Linux operating system.

Perforce see its membership as part of its commitment to encourage collaborative software development on both sides of the firewall.

As a member of the Linux Foundation, Perforce will contribute to the Linux development community to accelerate software development and build more innovative products faster.

Perforce recently released Perforce Git Fusion to improve the experience of using Git, its open source Distributed Version Control System (DVCS).

“We recognise the importance of supporting organisations and workflows that encourage software development from multiple sources,” said Perforces’ technical marketing manager Don Marti. “By joining the Linux Foundation, we are better able to help our customers who face the challenge of blending the needs of enterprise development with third-party open source development.”

“Linux and the collaborative development model can provide a blueprint for companies that want to maximize open source best practices and their investments in the operating system,” added Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer services at the Linux Foundation. “We’re looking forward to the work we can do with Perforce Software to advance Linux.”

The complete Perforce Software Version Management system will available at no cost for up to 20 users, open source projects and educational institutions. These free programs provide Perforce’s complete and most up-to-date features and products, including Perforce Git Fusion.
