Ouya controller gets redesign ahead of release

The Ouya team have improved the quality of the controller ahead of the release of its Android-powered console.

The new controller sports a range of tweaks, which were implemented following feedback from developers. Its makers say make these changes make it faster and more responsive.

Modifications to the controller include: changing the D-pad from a disc a to cross; adding rubberised tops to the thumbsticks to improve grip; improved design and mechanics for the triggers; and a more secure battery bay with higher quality material for the opening tab.

A more responsive touch pad has also been promised.

The Ouya, the $99, Android-powered console, is due for release in April 2013.
