PC World confident after major staff shake-up

Head of trading at PC World Chris McShane has told MCV that the retailer is gunning for additional market share, having completed a major staff re-structuring.

A newly-created team will manage the desktop PC, flat panel televisions and console and PC games categories, as the latter category is incorporated into the broader entertainment team.

McShane (pictured) is to head up the entertainment team as head of trading, while Rene Wright spearheads the games category as senior category manager, specifically looking after first party hardware and software. Supporting Wright are two category managers and two assistant category managers.

With the entertainment team now fully operational, and the very strong promotional plans that the games team have put in place, PC World and DSG International have significant market share growth in their sights,” said McShane.

This transition is a significant step forward giving us the ability to additionally promote console and PC games across our diverse business in an entirely new way, whilst continuing to support and develop the business within our other chains.”
