E3 2012: Nintendo says 3DS XL talk is "speculative"

Nintendo has done little to douse the fires of speculation by describing the speculative report of a new 3DS as… speculative.

MCV yesterday reported that Japanese news outlet Nikkei believes that the platform holder will tonight unveil a redesigned 3DS with a bigger screen. It adds that the machine will go on sale worldwide this summer.

Nintendo has responded to the claims by stating the obvious, calling it a speculative article [that] contained numerous errors”, adding that the report had not been confirmed” according to Kotaku Australia.

It stopped short of denying the claims outright, however.

The truth will be revealed at Nintendo’s E3 conference tonight at 5pm UK time, which MCV will be covering live.
