MICROSOFT: SmartGlass brings Xbox devices together

Microsoft has announced innovative new software that connects Xbox 360 with tablets, smartphones and other devices.

Xbox SmartGlass will be made available for a wide range of products, including Windows smartphones, iPad, Android devices and so on. It will then track users’ activity across all of these platforms.

For example, you can watch a movie on your Windows 8 tablet and then resume from the same point on Xbox 360.

The tablet will then display useful information about the film – and TV providers have been experiementing with different uses for this feature. HBO has created a Game of Thrones companion that displays a map showing where in Westeros the action is happening.

Similar functionality will also be added to games, so players will be able to direct footballers in Madden, or access information from Halo Waypoint and manage multiplayer invites in Halo 4.

Xbox SmartGlass also allows users to control and browse the Xbox Dashboard via their smartphone.
