Latest audio middleware includes live in-game audio composer and multi-track editing

GDC: Firelight releases FMOD Studio

Firelight Technologies has released multiplatform audio middleware FMOD Studio.

The new tech, which supersedes FMOD Designer, is compatible with “all platforms” and includes new features such as a multi-track editor, mixer deck and a profiling and audio capture interface.

The tool also comes with a new live in-game audio composer to add, edit and mix music in real time without having to rebuild scenarios.

“FMOD has been the industry standard games audio toolkit since just after the inception of the modern games industry,” said Firelight CEO Brett Paterson.

“FMOD Studio offers features that professional audio developers have been using in film and TV production for a long time, but have been completely absent from the gaming industry. Our new software is taking the industry to another level as the world’s most sophisticated audio games software.”
