Amazon bringing Sunday deliveries to London this Christmas

Online retailer Amazon is to start offering Sunday deliveries in the UK for the first time this Christmas.

The website is teaming up with a number of local courier and delivery firms in a move that further reduces the immediacy advantage currently enjoyed by the High Street.

Throughout the Christmas period, we will be making deliveries on Sundays in London,” a spokesperson told MCV. As part of our Amazon Logistics programme we work with local and regional carriers from across the capital who will be making deliveries every day of the week for the remainder of the festive period.”

The news follows confirmation of similar plans in the US where Amazon has struck a deal with the USPS (United States Postal Service) to debut Sunday deliveries in the territory.

The US plan, however, is believed to be a permanent service. It is not yet known whether Amazon will offer Sunday deliveries in the UK beyond this Christmas.
