9m female gamers prefer Nintendo

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime claims 9 million female gamers regularly play on their Wii.

He also estimated that this represents 80 per cent of the 11 million female ‘primary players’ around the world, according to Kotaku.

During his presentation at BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference, he explained that ‘primary players’ are the main users of home consoles – and does not include casual or non-gamers, such as young girls with a DS or mums on casual PC games.

He said: This didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of a deliberate attempt to expand the market.”
