Badland Games opens new publishing division

Spanish video game distributor and publisher Badland Games has launched its very own publishing division for indie games, Badland Games Publishing.

The news co-incides with the company opening its new Badland Games Research Poland office in Warsaw, allowing the company to expand its publishing efforts and work with a wider variety of growing indie studios. Its Warsaw office is also developing its own unnannounced title.

The first two games in Badland Games Publishing’s roster are Vostok Inc, a twin stick sci-fi shooter developed by UK studio Nosebleed Interactive, and Necrocosmos, an action-based Metroidvania-style title developed by the Spanish studio Andromeda Project.

Vostok Inc will launch on July 27th as a digital-only release for PS4, Xbox One, PC and the PS Vita, but Necrocosmos still needs to complete a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, which begins in August.

BadLand Games Publishing is born from the ambition to take the creativity and freshness of the new indie games to a wider audience,” commented Luis Quintans, CEO at Badland Games.

There are lots of newly founded studios that are breaking away with visual and playable conventions, and our goal is to help them reach a public who is avid for innovative content.”

Badland Games recently distributed the physical PS4 release of Cavalier Studio’s The Sexy Brutale: Full House Edition in the UK, which was co-developed and published by Rime developer Tequila Works. It’s also responsible for the upcoming physical release of FuturLab’s Velocity 2X: Critical Mass Edition on PS4 and PS Vita, which launches on July 28th.
