Bungie’s Destiny won’t release in 2013

Bungie’s MMO-ish ‘shared world shooter’ Destiny won’t grace consoles in 2013, publisher Activision has revealed.

Destiny is the Halo creator’s first game under its ten-year publishing deal with Activision, and will require an always-on internet connection to be playable.

The first-person shooter will consist of a persistent online world, but will not allow the player to play offline.

Early leaked contract documents between Bungie and Activision had suggested that the first of many Destiny games would release in 2013, but Activision has put an end to that speculation.

Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result,” the company said in a press release.

The game has so far been announced for Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as other future console platforms”, hinting that the game will also be available on the next-generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

While a PC version has not been announced, Bungie COO Pete Parsons told journalists, "We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned."
