Capcom delays key titles

Japanese publisher Capcom has delayed three of its key 2010 titles until later this year to avoid clashing with some of Q1’s high-profile releases.

Zombie sequel Dead Rising 2, action outing Lost Planet 2, fighting update Super Street Fighter IV and culy Japanese hit Monster Hunter Tri will all now be released some time in Capcom’s fiscal 2011, which kicks off on April 1st.

The publisher is frank about the reasoning, with an investor report stating that the decision was made to avoid competing with the major titles the other companies plan to introduce”.

Capcom still has two titles scheduled for release in the period, however – Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Dark Void, though sales expectations for the latter have been more than halved to 600k.

Big titles on the way this quarter include the likes of Sega’s Bayonetta and Aliens vs Predator, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, 2K Games’ BioShock 2, EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Sony’s God of War III and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII.
