Capcom partners with Twitch for year-round Street Fighter league

Capcom and Twitch have joined together to present a Street Fighter eSports league called Capcom Pro Tour.

The tour will run year-round and hold worldwide events to determine spots on the tour and eventually crown champions. Street Fighter IV will be the title of choice, at least on this first go round.

"The fighting community has always been a huge part of the world of competitive gaming, but has lacked global leagues and structure, which other eSports communities have benefited greatly from," Twitch fighting game community specialist Victor Denchartphan said.

"What Capcom is setting out to achieve by organizing a year-long pro tour in tandem with leveraging the Twitch community is definitely going to change the face of the fighting game scene.”

A total of 16 spots will be up for grabs in the Capcom Pro Tour; after winners are determined in the premier events (listed below), the remaining six qualifiers will be determined by a points system. The top 16 finishers at premier and ranking events (also listed below) will earn points toward those last available spots.
