Chinese firms purchase majority share in Warframe dev Digital Extremes

Warframe developer Digital Extremes has announced China-based companies Multi Dynamic Games and Perfect Online Holding have combined to acquire the majority of shares in the studio.

Gamasutra reports Multi Dynamic Games – a subsidiary of meat supplier Sumpo Food Holdings Limited – purchased 58 per cent of Digital Extremes’ shares for $69.6m, while Perfect Online acquired three percent of the studio for $3.6m.

Though negotiations began back in June, the bid was only made earlier this week and is still subject to due diligence investigations before the deal becomes official. The total value of the transactions is also subject to future adjustment by the companies.

Warframe currently boasts more than 10m registered users across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms in North America, Europe and Japan.
