3DS gets Game Boy store

As well as confirming the launch details for the exciting looking 3DS console, Nintendo this morning also revealed that the new handheld will be the host of a Game Boy download service.

The Game Boy has remained a notable omission from the current Virtual Console offering on Wii that to date has only offered titles from Nintendo’s back catalogue of home machines such as the NES, SNES and Nintendo 64.

Little is known of the new service right now, though the platform holder has confirmed that both Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles will be available.

It’s a rich catalogue of software for sure, and favourites already being called for include Super Mario Land 1 & 2, Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Wario Ware, Street Fighter Alpha 3, an assortment of Pokemon titles, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Advance Wars, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Super Mario World, Wario Land, Double Dragon and Grand Theft Auto.
And Shaq Fu.
