Animal Crossing: New Leaf surpasses 6m copies sold

Nintendo has released new lifetime numbers for a batch of its best-selling first-party 3DS titles.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the clear leader of the pack with 6.35m units sold. It took the game less than a year from its original Japan launch to reach the figure.

Behind it, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon shows it’s no slouch by selling 3.13m copies since its launch in March.

Other titles worthy of Nintendo’s mention include: Tomadochi Collection at 1.63m units, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at 1.37m units, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at 1.19m.

All solid figures, but none are likely to compare to the eventual total of Pokemon X & Y – which we already know moved 4m units in its first weekend.
