EA decides against Wii U port of Crysis 3 for "business" reasons

Crytek will not be bringing Crysis 3 to Wii U.

CEO and founder Cevat Yerli would to, the exec claims, but EA has apparently told him it has no interest in publishing the game on Nintendo’s new platform.

"There has been discussions between Nintendo and EA and Crytek, but the bottom line is that there is that there’s not enough business drive in it," he told Digital Spy.

"It’s a business decision between EA and Nintendo. If that business decision doesn’t make sense, or seems to not make sense for them, it’s not possible for us to make it. We can’t publish ourselves, and that’s the bottom line."

Releases such as Mass Effect 3 (a fellow EA title) and Assassin’s Creed 3 have proven that Wii U can handle the technical requirements of triple-A action games. But strong sales of the hardware will be needed before publishers agree to fund development of such titles on the machine.

Crysis 3 is due out on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on February 22nd.
