NBA Jam officially announced

Publisher EA has confirmed that it is working on a next-gen addition to popular retro sports brand NBA Jam.

Talk of the game first emerged early last week and was stoked with news that Mark Turmell, one of the faces behind the series’ 1993 debut, has joined EA as senior creative director.

The Wii-only outing is said to be faithful to the high-speed two-on-two gameplay the brand is best known for, though gamers can expect to see a host of new gameplay modes and characters.

NBA Jam is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,” EA Sports president Peter Moore stated.

Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.”

NBA Jam is being developed by EA Canada in Vancouver and is scheduled for release some time this year.
