Nintendo denies DSi discontinuation

Platform holder Nintendo has denied claims that it has stopped manufacturing the DSi ahead of the launch of the 3DS over the next two months.

This morning Kotaku reported that the machine was out of production in Japan, with inventory stock being all that’s left of the machine in the Japanese market. The DSi XL, however, was said to still be in production.

"We plan to still manufacture and supply DSi consoles in a range of colours in the UK in 2011," a spokesperson told MCV.

"On an on-going basis, continuing supply is based on retail and consumer demand."

MCV believes that the 3DS is scheduled for a UK launch on the last weekend in March.
