No FIFA game for handheld or Nintendo this year

EA will not release this year’s FIFA 16 on handheld or Nintendo systems, it seems.

"With regards to FIFA 16 there isn’t a Vita or 3DS version," EA told Pocket Gamer. "We don’t have any further detail on the mobile version but will be sure to share with you when we hear more."

The game was released on both machines last year, it should be noted. EA’s press material also makes no mention of a release on either Wii or Wii U. It will be the first year that FIFA has not been released for Wii since the console’s launch, although Wii U was also skipped last year.

What you can be sure of is a smartphone and tablet version, although this has yet to be officially announced.

It was last week announced that for the first time in the history of the FIFA series, FIFA 16 will for the first time give gamers the chance to play as women.

The game will feature 12 Women’s National Teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden and the USA.
