Prepaid 3DS cards spotted at retail

Nintendo may not have launched the 3DS eShop yet, but some US retailers are already selling credit for the virtual store.

Joystiq and its readers have spotted Nintendo 3DS Prepaid Cards on sale at various branches of Best Buy, including Merced, California and New York City.

The cards are only available in denominations of $20 and can only be used with the Nintendo 3DS’ upcoming eShop, allowing customers to buy original 3DSiWare titles or classic Virtual Console games.

The fact that the cards’ value are in dollars rather than Nintendo Points suggests the platform holder may have dropped the currency used for the online stores found on DS and Wii.

It was revealed this morning that the Nintendo 3DS eShop will go live on June 7th. This is the second time it’s launch has been delayed.
