Three Tetris films coming up because story is too big for just one

The producer of the upcoming Tetris movie has explained why it is the first part in a trilogy.

Speaking to film publication Empire, Larry Kasanoff said that the story they have in mind for the film is ‘so big’ that they need three films to cover it.

In May, it was revealed by Deadline that the Tetris film was seen as the first part of a trilogy. Kasanoff also confirmed to Empire that this is definitely the first of three movies based on the iconic puzzle game.

That’s correct [that this is the first part of a trilogy], and [we are doing three films] purely because the story we conceived is so big,” Kasanoff said. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story."

The news that a Tetris film was in the works broke in late 2014.
