VDIGI launches Wii HD kit

With the wait for Wii HD likely to be at best a very long one and at worst completely fruitless, one tech firm has stepped forward to offer a 1080p solution for owners of the current console.

Spotted by CVG, VDIGI’s new VD-W3 Wii HDMI Upscaler Processor plus into the video out port of the Wii and converts the signal into either 1080p, 1080i, 720p or a high-resolution PC monitor format. The processed signal is then output in HDMI.

Though upscaling will never produce visuals as rich or detailed as those found on the PS3 or Xbox 360, it should still offer a decent quality upgrade for those playing Wii on an HDTV or monitor.

The VD-W3 costs $75 and can be ordered here – although it’s currently out of stock.
