Zynga boss hints at Xbox partnership?

Mark Pincus, the boss of social and casual gaming giant Zynga, has hinted at what appears to be a possible partnership with Microsoft that could see Zynga titles appear on Xbox.

Speaking of cross-device compatibility, Pincus told GigaOM that: "Right now we are building back-end technology, so that your game state can be saved and served up in difference screens/devices.

The interaction cues will take from the different devices. In other words, you can play a game on a computer and call it up on Xbox and you resume from the point you left off, except the game play will now be customized for the Xbox controller."

Pincus does not explicitly state that a move to Xbox is incoming. Nor does the interviewer seek clarity about the comment.

But a potential console move for Zynga would be strategically sound – particularly at a time when the company is trying to forge its independence away from Facebook.
