Despicable Me: Minion Rush hits 100m smartphone downloads

And to think you thought the movie game tie-in as dead!

Gameloft has announced that Despicable Me: Minion Rush, its iOS and Android game tie-in with recent movie release Despicable Me 2, has been downloaded over 100 million times in under three months.

We’ve been lucky to work with such creative and visionary minds like the team at Illumination Entertainment,” Gameloft’s SVP of production Julien Fournials stated.

Bringing the Minions to life in a game was great fun. Our collaboration brought a lot of authenticity to the table, from the Minion voices to the uniquely comedic gameplay, and that authenticity helped introduce a lot of fans to the game.”

Further updates to the game are promised.
