EA: Mass Effect 2 heading to PS3

In news that will surely be welcomed be fans of the machine, EA has stated at its Gamescom press conference that Mass Effect 2 will finally be released on PS3 in January 2011.

The series has long enjoyed console exclusivity on Xbox 360, but talks has been doing the rounds of a multi-platform swap for quite some time.

Indeed, in November last year BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk described Sony’s machine as a key platform” for the studio going forwards.

Presumably Mass Effect 3 will also now be hitting both machines, though a period of timed exclusivity on Xbox 360 should be expected.
