EA’s Schappert quits, joins Zynga

John Schappert, the COO of publisher EA, has in a shock move resigned from the publisher, news agency Reuters is reporting.

In an even more astonishing move, he has done so to join rising casual games force Zynga, it is claimed. It’s not yet known what role he will take at the company.

Schappert has been at EA for a little under two years and has previously worked for Microsoft. The move comes ahead of the publication of EA’s financials tomorrow.

Last month Ben Cousins, the boss of the EA Easy Studio, announced his shock departure from the company – slamming full price console games in the process.

In the same month, former Tecmo Koei CEO Kenji Matsubara joined Zynga’s Japanese business.
