ESL used a Swiss format for the first time in CS:GO historydid it work?

The ESL Cologne qualifier used a format rarely seen in Counter-Strike esports. Instead of groups or single elimination, ESL used what’s called the Swiss format.

Usually a format reserved for card games like Hearthstone and Magic: the Gathering, the matches played out over four days to determine the eight teams who would advance to the $1 million ESL Cologne Major.
