Big names back UK games conference

IGN, Screen Digest and renamed trade body UKIE are already backing the return of the London Games Conference in November.

With a theme of ‘Survival And Profit In A Changing Industry’ LGC 2010 will focus on shifts in revenues, platforms and distribution methods for game content.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 4th at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly and again comprise of conference and networking.

IGN UK has been appointed Platinum Sponsor of the event, whilst UKIE (formerly ELSPA) has offered its endorsement and inclusion of the event within the wide-ranging London Games Festival.

Screen Digest’s chief analyst Ben Keen will present an exclusive summary of current and future revenue distribution.

There will also be big name keynotes, panel sessions and workshops.

Another sell-out of over 200 delegates is expected, but pricing is being kept low to allow companies of all sizes and budgets to attend.

More details on cost, the early bird discount and special offers for UKIE and TIGA members will emerge post-E3.

Last year’s London Games Conference was a huge success, tackling the hot topic of digital distribution for games,” commented MCV editor-in-chief Michael French.

This year we are extending the debate to cover everything from cloud-based revolutions such as OnLive and Gaikai to Facebook, PSN, Xbox Live and challenge-based gaming.

We will examine the threats and opportunities for traditional retail, the service sector for new technologies and the crucial strategic choices being faced by developers and publishers.”

Following the recent appointment of former Ubi and EA exec Ian Chambers, IGN has decided to get behind the conference as well. Chambers said: We’re excited to be supporting The London Games Conference, which has established itself as a key event in the trade calendar.”
