FFXIII on 360 not heading to Asia

It appears that Square Enix’s colossally hyped Final Fantasy XIII won’t be receiving an Asian territory release on Xbox 360 after all – despite

claims at a recent Taiwanese press conference to the contrary

.

Having announced at E3 that Final Fantasy XIII would be released on Xbox 360 in Europe and America only, the hopes of a possible Japanese release had appeared to have been bolstered by the Taiwanese news.

However, Kotaku quotes Microsoft Taiwan as now saying: At E3 2008, it was announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be available for Xbox 360 platform in North America and Europe. There is no plan to launch the game in Taiwan. We regret any confusion caused by this.”

Microsoft has also subsequently added: There’s really no more to say than that as announced at E3. Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360 is scheduled for release in North America and Europe. There are no plans to release the game in any other region, including Asia.”
