Far Cry 2 heading for consoles

French publisher Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming FPS Far Cry 2 will not be a PC exclusive, and will also be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 as well.

The original title was a pioneering PC outing in its day, blending FPS action and free-roaming, free-thinking gameplay to offer something not seen before. The game was developed by Crytek, though the studio later parted ways with Ubisoft and recently released the critically acclaimed Crysis on PC.

Far Cry 2 strays from the series’ typical jungle setting and instead heads to Africa, though it will still champion a free-roaming approach to the action.

The release of all three versions is currently scheduled for some time in fiscal ’08 – so anytime after April.
