Indie darling Firewatch headed to PC and PS4 next February

Much-anticipated indie adventure title Firewatch has had a release period pencilled.

In development for nearly two years, Firewatch is the first effort from studio Campo Santo. Despite this, the team behind is the game comprises veterans from across the games industry – and beyond.

Mark of the Ninja lead designer Nels Anderson is joined by Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin, two of the developers behind Telltale’s The Walking Dead series.

Contributing art direction is freelance graphic designer, former Studio Ghibli artist and the man behind those Star Wars pictures that everyone loves, Olly Moss.

Firewatch has been building excitement among the games industry thanks to an on-stage showing at major shows, including PAX 2014 and Sony’s E3 2015 conference.

The mysterious adventure game takes place in a vast Wyoming forest during the titular woodland fire season. Much of the narrative is delivered through radio conversations between the player character and their co-worker.

Firewatch is due out on PC and PS4 in February 2016, and is said to be in the midst of final ‘tweaking, tuning, bug fixing and polishing’ before release.
